Flowtrail Stromberg: free forest trails in the Hunsrück

Flowtrail Stromberg is not a classic lift-served bikepark. It is a public sports trail near a small Hunsrück town, built and maintained by the local community, where you return to the starts under your own power on forest roads. That gives it a more grounded feel than a resort while still offering a proper trail day.

The official overview describes a loop, the Wild Hog and No Jokes descents and a practice area with pumptrack. The colour marking works much like skiing: blue is more accessible, red adds roots and smaller rollable jumps, and black belongs to riders who are comfortable with rocks, bigger features and speed.

Respecting the rules is central here. Private use is free, but the trail closes in wet conditions and over winter, shuttling is explicitly discouraged and pedestrians are not allowed on the track. A helmet is mandatory, protection is required on black sections and still sensible on red.

Stromberg suits travellers who prefer a well-built community trail over resort infrastructure. It is a useful stop between the Rhine valley, Mainz and the Hunsrück: a few focused hours of technique, forest dirt, no lift and the calm of a small wine-growing region afterwards.
