General information
Rhineland, Cologne, Düsseldorf and the Ruhr form one of Germany’s densest urban and cultural corridors. It is not postcard Bavaria; it is rivers, cities, industry, football, art and lively local identity.
Trips and nature
The Rhine is the main natural axis, with river promenades, vineyards further south, parks and post-industrial landscapes in the Ruhr. Nature often appears between cities rather than far from them.
Food and atmosphere
Cologne Cathedral, Düsseldorf’s art scene, Bonn’s political history and Ruhr industrial heritage give the region enormous cultural variety. Local beer traditions are a serious topic, handled unseriously in the best way.
Transport and stay
The region is excellent by train and public transport. A car is usually unnecessary for city travel and can be inconvenient.
