General information
The Algarve is Portugal’s best-known beach region, mixing dramatic cliffs, sandy bays, fishing towns, resort areas, sunshine and easy holiday infrastructure.
Trips and nature
The coast offers golden cliffs, caves, beaches, lagoons and islands, while the interior has quieter hills, villages and cork landscapes.
Food and atmosphere
Lagos, Faro, Tavira and smaller towns add Moorish, maritime and fishing heritage beyond the beaches.
Transport and stay
Faro has the main airport. Trains and buses serve the coast, but a car helps for smaller beaches, villages and inland trips.
