General information
Aarhus, Jutland and mainland Denmark show a more open and varied side of the country. Aarhus is young, cultural and easy-going, while Jutland adds beaches, dunes, small towns and family attractions.
Trips and nature
Jutland is Denmark’s main peninsula, with North Sea beaches, fjords, dunes, forests and wide rural landscapes. The west coast is wilder, the east coast softer and more settled.
Food and atmosphere
Aarhus offers museums, architecture and student life, while Jelling, Ribe and other towns add Viking and medieval layers. Food includes fish, pastries, open sandwiches, local beer and simple coastal cooking.
Transport and stay
Aarhus is well connected by train and has an airport nearby. A car is useful for Jutland’s beaches, dunes, Legoland, small towns and national parks.
