General information
The Danube Delta and Dobruja are one of Romania’s most distinctive regions, where wetlands, birdlife, fishing villages, steppe landscapes and Black Sea influences meet.
Trips and nature
The Danube Delta is the natural star, with channels, lakes, reed beds, pelicans and huge biodiversity. Dobruja adds dry hills, steppe, monasteries and coastal links.
Food and atmosphere
The region has Romanian, Lipovan, Turkish, Tatar and Greek layers, with fishing traditions, old ports and religious diversity shaping its identity.
Transport and stay
Tulcea is the main gateway to the delta. Boats are essential for many places, and a car helps for Dobruja’s inland sites and monasteries.
