General information
Western Serbia, Tara and Zlatibor are a region of mountains, rivers, canyons, wooden villages, viewpoints and calmer nature.
Trips and nature
Tara offers forests and views over the Drina, Uvac has famous meanders and vultures, while Zlatibor is a recreational mountain area.
Food and atmosphere
The region combines rural architecture, monasteries, film locations and traditional hospitality. Food is mountain-style: kajmak, smoked ham, lamb, grilled meat, cheeses, rakija and honey.
Transport and stay
A car is very useful in western Serbia, as viewpoints, parks and villages are harder by public transport. The area suits 3 to 6 days of road trips and nature.
