General information
The Eastfjords are quieter and less rushed than the south or Reykjavík area. They suit travellers who enjoy long drives, small villages, coastal views and a slower Iceland.
Trips and nature
The landscape is made of steep fjords, mountains, waterfalls, valleys and narrow coastal roads. It is excellent for scenic driving, walking and watching weather move across the sea.
Food and atmosphere
Small harbour towns, fishing traditions, colourful houses and places such as Seyðisfjörður give the region a creative but remote feel.
Transport and stay
A car is almost essential. Distances feel longer than they look, roads are slower, and winter conditions can complicate travel.
