General information
Oltenia, Horezu and the Dacian Mountains are an underrated inland region of monasteries, crafts, caves, gorges, old settlements and mountain approaches.
Trips and nature
The region combines low hills, river gorges, caves, forests and mountain edges. It works well for scenic drives and quiet stops.
Food and atmosphere
Horezu is known for its monastery and pottery traditions, while Dacian, medieval and rural layers give the wider region historical weight.
Transport and stay
A car is very useful because sights are scattered. Public transport exists between towns but is less practical for monasteries, caves and mountain roads.
