General information
Bavaria, Munich and the German Alps are the Germany many travellers imagine first: beer gardens, castles, mountains, lakes, painted towns and strong regional traditions.
Trips and nature
The Alps, foothills, lakes, forests and river valleys make Bavaria one of Germany’s best outdoor regions. The Zugspitze, Berchtesgaden and Alpine lakes are major highlights.
Food and atmosphere
Munich combines royal history, museums, beer halls and modern industry. Smaller towns, monasteries and castles such as Neuschwanstein create the classic Bavarian image.
Transport and stay
Munich is very well connected by train and air. Public transport works for many trips, but a car helps for Alpine villages, lakes and scenic routes.
