Central Portugal is one of the country’s most varied regions, combining historic Coimbra, coastal Aveiro and Nazaré, mountain villages and the Serra da Estrela.

The region ranges from Atlantic beaches and lagoons to Portugal’s highest mainland mountains, river valleys, forests and stone villages.

Transport and stay

Main cities are reachable by train, but a car is useful for Serra da Estrela, villages, beaches and multi-stop touring.
