General information
Guttland and the Valley of the Seven Castles form Luxembourg’s central countryside region. It is not as dramatic as the Ardennes or Mullerthal, but it is very pleasant, green and full of short castle, village and walking stops.
Trips and nature
The landscape is soft and rural, with fields, forests, small valleys, orchards and quiet roads. The Eisch Valley is the best-known scenic thread, linking castles and villages in a very manageable area.
Food and atmosphere
The Valley of the Seven Castles is the main theme, with castles, manor houses and historic villages showing Luxembourg’s noble and rural past. Guttland also gives a good feel for everyday Luxembourg outside the capital.
Transport and stay
The region is close to Luxembourg City and reachable by public transport, but a car or bike is useful for linking castles, viewpoints and small villages at an easy pace.
