General information
Bratislava and Western Slovakia are the natural entry point to the country, combining the capital, Danube views, wine towns, castles and easy cross-border links with Austria, Hungary and Czechia.
Trips and nature
The Little Carpathians offer vineyards, forests, hiking trails and castle ruins close to the city. The Danube adds riverside landscapes and cycling routes.
Food and atmosphere
Bratislava has medieval, Habsburg, socialist and modern layers in a compact centre. Modra, Pezinok and other towns bring wine culture and small-town charm.
Transport and stay
Bratislava has good rail and bus links and is close to Vienna airport. A car or bike helps for wine villages, castles and the Little Carpathians.
