General information
Bukovina and Moldavia form Romania’s north-eastern cultural heartland, known for painted monasteries, Orthodox traditions, rural landscapes, historic towns and a more contemplative travel rhythm.
Trips and nature
The landscape is gentle and green, with hills, forests, valleys, orchards and villages. Bukovina becomes more mountainous towards the Carpathian edge.
Food and atmosphere
The painted monasteries of Bukovina are the region’s great treasure. Iași adds university life, literary history and Moldavian urban heritage.
Transport and stay
Iași and Suceava are useful bases with rail and air links. A car helps for monasteries, villages and rural routes, especially in Bukovina.
