General information
The Scottish Highlands, Skye and the Inner Hebrides are the Scotland many travellers dream of first: mountains, glens, lochs, castles, mist, sheep, whisky, ferries and scenic roads.
Trips and nature
Glencoe, Ben Nevis, Loch Ness, Skye, Mull, Iona and the Hebridean coast offer some of Britain’s most dramatic landscapes. Weather changes quickly and layers are not optional.
Food and atmosphere
The region is linked to clans, Gaelic culture, Jacobite history, whisky, castles and island life. Food includes salmon, shellfish, venison, lamb, haggis, whisky and warming soups.
Transport and stay
A car is very useful, although main routes can be done by train, bus or tours. Skye is busy in season, so accommodation and ferries need planning.
