General information
Vysočina is Czechia’s quiet highland region between Bohemia and Moravia, good for small towns, forests, ponds, cycling and slower rural travel.
Trips and nature
The landscape is gently hilly, with forests, fields, ponds, granite villages and cool uplands. It is not dramatic, but very calming.
Food and atmosphere
Telč, Třebíč and Žďár nad Sázavou bring UNESCO heritage, while Jihlava, monasteries and village architecture add deeper regional character.
Transport and stay
Vysočina is easiest by car, especially for villages, ponds and small heritage sites. Trains and buses connect larger towns.
