General information
Tokaj, Eger and Northern Hungary combine famous wine regions, baroque towns, castles, caves, wooded hills and thermal bathing.
Trips and nature
The region is hillier than much of Hungary, with volcanic wine hills, forests, caves and valleys. Bükk and Mátra add mountain scenery.
Food and atmosphere
Tokaj is famous for sweet wine, Eger for its castle, baroque centre and red wine. Historic towns and cellars make the region especially atmospheric.
Transport and stay
Eger and Tokaj are reachable by train or bus, but a car helps for wine villages, caves, hills and spa towns.
