General information
Lviv, Galicia and Western Ukraine are the most Central European part of the country. Lviv is a city of cafés, churches, courtyards, literature, markets and many historical layers.
Trips and nature
Western Ukraine is green, gently rolling and gradually rises towards the Carpathians. The areas around Ternopil and Podolia add rivers, castles, caves and rural landscapes.
Food and atmosphere
Lviv combines Ukrainian, Polish, Jewish, Armenian, Austro-Hungarian and Soviet layers. Chernivtsi recalls the multicultural past of Bukovina. Food includes coffee, chocolate, borscht, varenyky, pastries and Central European Ukrainian cuisine.
Transport and stay
Because of the current situation, official travel advice and transport conditions must be checked carefully. In normal times, Lviv is the main western gateway from Central Europe.
