General information

The Black Sea Coast and Northern Anatolia show Turkey from a greener and wetter side, with tea, forests, mountains, mist, coastal towns and a different rhythm.

Trips and nature

The north is green, mountainous and rainy. The Kaçkar Mountains are good for hiking and summer escapes, while the coast is narrow between sea and mountains.

Food and atmosphere

Trabzon and Sumela add historical depth, Rize is linked with tea and Safranbolu with Ottoman architecture. Food includes hamsi, corn bread, cheesy dishes, tea, butter and honey.

Transport and stay

The region is best explored by car or by combining domestic flights and buses. Trabzon and Samsun have airports, while mountain areas need more planning.
