General information
North Wales, Snowdonia and Anglesey are a region of mountains, castles, Welsh language, coastline, villages and narrow-gauge railways.
Trips and nature
Eryri, also known as Snowdonia, is the main natural icon, with Yr Wyddfa, lakes, rocky ridges, waterfalls and mountain villages. Anglesey and the Llŷn Peninsula add coast and beaches.
Food and atmosphere
North Wales has a strong Welsh identity. Conwy, Caernarfon, Harlech and Beaumaris are major castle sites, while Pontcysyllte Aqueduct adds industrial heritage. Food includes lamb, cawl, Welsh cakes, bara brith and seafood.
Transport and stay
Trains reach Llandudno and Bangor, but a car helps for mountains, Anglesey, Llŷn and villages. Popular Snowdonia routes need early planning in season.
