General information

Zurich, Lucerne and Central Switzerland are one of the best gateways to the country. Zurich is a cultural and transport hub, while Lucerne is smaller, more romantic and beautifully framed by lake and mountains.

Trips and nature

The region is all about accessibility: lakes, boats, cable cars, viewpoints and easy hikes are close to the cities. Rigi, Pilatus and Lake Lucerne are classic short trips.

Food and atmosphere

Zurich brings museums, galleries, design districts and lakeside life; Lucerne adds the Chapel Bridge, old walls and a postcard Swiss atmosphere. Food means cheese, rösti, fondue, raclette, chocolate, lake fish and pastries.

Transport and stay

Zurich has the main airport and excellent rail links. A car is not necessary; trains, boats and mountain railways work extremely well.
