General information
Vorarlberg is Austria’s compact western region, culturally close to Switzerland and southern Germany, with mountains, design, villages, Lake Constance and a quieter alpine feel.
Trips and nature
The landscape combines Lake Constance, Alpine valleys, meadows, ski areas and mountain passes. It is small but surprisingly varied.
Food and atmosphere
Bregenz adds lake culture and festivals, while the Bregenzerwald is known for timber architecture, cheese, crafts and village traditions.
Transport and stay
Trains and buses work well along main routes. A car helps for high valleys, villages and mountain roads, especially outside peak connections.
