General information
Vojvodina, Novi Sad and northern Serbia are flatter, calmer and more Central European in feel. Novi Sad is a pleasant Danube city, Subotica an Art Nouveau gem and Fruška Gora a wine and monastery area.
Trips and nature
The landscape is made of rivers, plains, fields, wetlands and the low hills of Fruška Gora. Spring and autumn are best, while summer can be hot and sunny.
Food and atmosphere
The region is multicultural, with Serbian, Hungarian, Slovak, Croatian and Austro-Hungarian layers. Food blends Balkan and Pannonian flavours: fish soup, grilled meat, stews, wines, cakes and sausages.
Transport and stay
Novi Sad is easy from Belgrade by train or bus. A car helps for Fruška Gora, Palić and smaller towns.
