Valloire-Galibier Bike Park

Valloire-Galibier is the summer cycling side of a resort better known for the Telegraphe and Galibier passes. On a mountain bike it feels less showy than some larger Alpine names, which is part of the appeal: from the village you roll to the La Brive gondola and quickly reach Crey du Quart, with broad views over the Maurienne and the Aiguilles d'Arves.

The main bike park runs roughly between 1,430 and 2,300 metres and offers ten downhill trails plus five e-bike routes. Flowier lines such as La Familiale or La Pano sit alongside rockier and more wooded options like The Wood, Michael Pascal and Gangsta, so you can warm up gently before moving into more technical riding. Down by the Valloirette river, a smaller green-and-blue area suits children and first-time riders.

A good day starts with the lift status and official map, because the summer operation is focused mainly on the Crey du Quart sector. Mixed groups should look at the leisure e-pass: it includes lift access with VTT as well as other resort activities, which makes it easier for non-riders to share the day without waiting around.

The terrain is properly Alpine and can change quickly after rain. Full protection, a measured first run and attention around shared or beginner areas are sensible. In hot weather, carry water; the lift stations are convenient, but repeated descents can turn a short session into a full day.
