Les Gets is one of the places where European mountain biking needs little introduction. The village sits in the Portes du Soleil and turns into a cycling base in summer, with cafés, rental shops and riders in protection right in the centre. It still feels alpine, with pastures, forests and views that make every break more than a wait for the next lift.
The official bikepark lists 128 km of marked and maintained routes, thirteen DH tracks, freeride, enduro, e-bike loops, a kid zone and a coaching track. Chavannes and Nauchets suit flow, progression and a more family-minded day, while Mont Chéry is wilder, more technical and carries the memory of world-level racing.
Les Gets suits riders who want park lines and broader alpine riding in one trip. The Portes du Soleil link means you can stay local or build a longer ride across resort boundaries. The day still needs planning around open lifts and energy levels: vertical metres disappear quickly and fatigue arrives quietly.
Beginners should start on green and blue lines and consider local coaching, because summer traffic can be fast. Advanced riders get the most from Les Gets by saving time for both sides of the valley instead of rushing straight to the hardest sections. After rain, roots and forest trails become much more demanding.
