Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel are not a fenced bike park with one gate, but an official alpine MTB trail area above Kaprun. Lifts shorten the climbs, routes drop from high mountain terrain through meadows and forest, and glacier views give the ride a sharper alpine mood than most woodland parks.
The Maiskogel Trail is the more accessible option for families and riders looking for flow without extremes. Higher on Kitzsteinhorn, the official overview lists Bachler Trail, Wuestlau Trail and Geissstein Trail, longer freeride-style lines where braking control, weather and confidence on rough ground matter more.
Plan the day around open lifts. Kaprun Center, MK Maiskogelbahn, 3K K-onnection and other sections operate in summer according to season, weather and operational status, so the official map and live status are more useful than a fixed itinerary.
Rental and sports shops are tied into the Kaprun and Zell am See area, but bike-specific packages should be checked before arrival. Bring reliable tyres, a warm layer for lift transfers and an honest sense of stamina: alpine descents can feel longer than the profile suggests.
